My Story

Raihanna Estrada is a country artist-songwriter from California who now calls Nashville home. She grew up in the suburbs of Fremont and in a motorhome on a Ranch in Lake Berryessa in Napa County where she fell in love with country music. As a kid, she learned to sing from Disney, musicals like Annie and Oliver and her favorite movie Labyrinth. Later her ears were captivated by artists on 90’s country radio such as Jo Dee Messina, Phil Vassar, Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Travis Tritt and LeAnn Rimes to name a few. She started songwriting at age 13 creating stories and melodies. She would perform whenever she could at Karaoke in the lodge on the weekends. In high school she moved back to Fremont, CA in the San Francisco Bay Area and continued singing the National Anthem at rallies, sports games and performing at talent shows.

Raihanna was adopted at six months old by her maternal Grandparents who she called Mom and Dad. They raised her to love everyone, help when you can, to work hard and to be creative. They were a different generation and that gave her a love of things before her time. Their suburban home had many vintage treasures which you see a lot through her style. They were everything to her. In 2005 and 2006 Raihanna’s world was turned upside down. Her Dad passed away abruptly from a heart aneurysm and her Mom followed a year later passing away from Cancer. It broke her heart but instead of letting it ruin her she took that and channeled it into chasing her dreams of pursuing a music career and living her life exactly how she wanted to.

A couple years in between were spent working jobs at restaurants, finishing up community college and trying to find her path. Living in her first apartment by herself in Fremont, later moving to San Diego with friends, back to the Bay Area writing songs in notebooks along the way. She would take those songs to open mic nights on piano, her first instrument. And then one day while living in San Diego freaking out over studying for a Biology test her best friend Melissa discovered Musicians Institute in Hollywood online. She didn’t know it yet, but she was about to embark on the best adventure of her life.

Raihanna Estrada, Hollywood California, 2009

In 2009, Estrada made the move she had always dreamed of from the Bay Area to Los Angeles where she attended Musicians Institute in Hollywood to complete the Vocal Program. It was the best decision she ever made. Meeting people from all over the country and the world. All of her fellow musician roommates were Swedish. She put a band together, started writing new songs, and hit the ground running playing shows around the city. Her first full band gig was at a venue then called The Cat Club on the Sunset strip right next door to Whisky a Go Go and she hasn’t stopped since. Raihanna isn’t only influenced by country music, she's also a big fan of Tom Petty, Andrew McMahon of Jack’s Mannequin and many others. She draws inspiration everywhere she goes.

She met her husband Eric Bickerstaffe at music school, a Canadian guitarist from Calgary, Alberta. They fell in love in Hollywood and have been writing music, recording, traveling, playing shows and sharing their life and dreams together for over a decade. Eric Bickerstaffe is not only an amazing guitarist but he is a full time composer. To check out his work and sync placements visit his Instagram page - Eric Bickerstaffe
